Following its 10th edition, the most popular in its history, The Montreal International Reggae Festival (MIRF) is proud to announce a partial line-up of its 11th edition, keeping in the tradition of showcasing the most renowned artists, filling the Montreal Old Port with the best riddims reggae has to offer!
Confirmed artists

Maxi Priest is looking forward to a busy 2014 summer with the release of his new studio album Easy To Love. With over 15 millions albums sold worldwide, a No. 1 U.S. Billboard hit and a Grammy nomination, the most successful solo act in British reggae history will be bringing his special brand of reggae, lover’s rock and pop to tug on the ladies’ heartstrings at the festival.

Back after an outstanding performance at MIRF 2009, Sanchez, the author of more than 30 albums will be back with his rich repertoire, including pop, soul, R&B, reggae, gospel and of course, genuine dancehall gems. Sure to please!

Marcia Griffiths is the Great Lady of reggae, who, as a member of the famous vocal trio The I-Threes, toured the world backing up Bob Marley & The Wailers throughout the 70’s. In 2014, Mrs Griffiths is now touring to celebrate her 50 years in the music industry! In a genre traditionally dominated by male artists, Marcia Griffiths is arguably the best-known and most influential female singer in the history of reggae, releasing constant classics through the Rocksteady, Roots and Dancehall eras.

If Percy Sledge, one of the most beloved american artists in Jamaica had only recorded When a Man Loves a Woman, one of the greatest soul songs of all time, he would have earned his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yet Sledge’s career didn’t end with that momentous first single. Over the years he racked up a dozen hits at Atlantic, including Warm and Tender Love, It Tears Me Up, Out of Left Field and Take Time to Know Her, making him a touring artists constantly in demand on the Caribbean and international scenes.

Workshops

For a second consecutive year, our series of workshops will be held again at O Patro Vys on August 12, 13 & 14.

MIRF 2014 will present a conference with a very well-known industry personality and a masterclass for reggae musicians!

* The complete MIRF 2014 line-up and schedule will be unvealed on Monday, July 14 at a press conference held at O Patro Vys, 356 Mont Royal St. East at 11 A.M. in the presence of a very distinguished guest!

"Surely one of the best reggae festivals in North America; it’s comparable to the great Reggae On The River, in California".
Roger Steffens, reggae historian and musicologist

"A superb line-up, plenty of sunshine and a massive turn-out; we couln’t have hoped for better, for this 10th anniversary!".
